first things

I bought a bowed psaltery on Ebay the other day. They can be kinda shrill but I like the timbre and overtones and thought it might sound nice slowed down. This is a fast test I did to see what it sounds like. I recorded 3 long samples then resampled them twice to slow them down and randomly threw all the pieces together. I'm pleased for the most part and think it has potential.

accidental kalimba loop

I had to pack up my studio because hurricane Irene flooded my basement. Today I unpacked some pedals so I could make some accidental kalimba loops. My idea is to record a bunch of these then select the best ones or ones I like and arrange them sort of like a mobile - where 1 loop plays for a minute or two, then fades into another and so on... you can use the shuffle function on your player to randomize the order they play in thus adding another chance element to the final piece. I don't play this Hugh Tracey well but it has a lovely sound and character.
